If I wanted to play a slow, heavy, boring and empty game I would play D4. That's why I'm not and I'm playing PoE. |

Gonna try it. Then see if gonna stick with it. |

" Basically this. If i want slow tactical combat there are other titles that do it better and are less excessive on the grinding side. |

No one is stopping you to play both. There is no denying I would have loved POE 2 more if it was more in line with 2013 Path of Exile. 2013 POE was slower and not so hard actually (except if you talk about BLAMT races). I would love to have seen a continuation of POE with a second campaign. Sadly for me, GGG wanted to change the recipe. Some elements I dislike: 1) Although you will still be able to play the game with mouse and keyboard, the WASD control scheme is being promoted. The original Path of Exile exclusively launched for pc. The sequel also has to cater to the console platform; hence why we got an emphasis on the WASD control scheme. I think it just looks janky and the game will be completely balanced around the controller. 2) Harder bossfights with more interesting mechanics? Sure. But redoing the entire fight when you die? No thanks. 3) Although currency orbs will not be abandoned, they will be significantly scarcer in POE 2. All gameplay footage highlights that. I think gold will play a far more important role than currency orbs in poe 2. It will be a Ruthless 2.0. I don't think divines or exalts will be used as overall currency but rather alchemy orbs. The power level of items will be significantly lower. 4) Slower flask refillment will hurt quite some players throughout the campaign. The game being slower I don't mind and I actually kinda like that but the above points make me wonder if I will really like POE 2. I will for sure play it a couple of times since the new Wraeclast locations look amazing and the story might be worthwile. Heart of Purity Awarded 'Silverblade' to Talent Competition Winner 2020. |

Same as others have said: I'll give it a fair chance but, from what I've seen so far, I'm not convinced I'll stick with it. Last edited by eperon on Aug 28, 2024, 11:25:27 AM |

So far, everything I've seen has me totally hyped for the new game, which looks to be both: Don't get me wrong; PoE1 is a great game, and elements of its design like the massive passive system and its modular end-game have become essential baseline elements of the genre - it's the reason why e.g. Diablo IV's end game looks so lackluster by comparison, and why almost every new ARPG that releases these days seems to be cribbing from GGG's homework. Even games that are clearly referencing different ARPGs do this -- Grim Dawn (which has a lot of former Iron Lore devs on staff, and is clearly carrying forward Titan Quest's design) still added in Constellations, which is just PoE's massive passive web with more steps. The only ARPG developer that doesn't seem to want to pick up what GGG put down is Blizzard, and... well, we can all see how that's going. So, yeah, unlike (almost) everyone else in this thread so far, I'm totally hyped for PoE2, which I fully expect to be exactly the same kind of ARPG paradigm shift that PoE1 was OMFG nearly twelve year ago now. And, no, I don't expect that I'll have time for both, so I'll probably just be switching. But for those who just want more PoE1, I have good news! GGG is going to give you that, too, since the OG game will still be getting active development and regular content additions for the foreseeable, too. Everybody wins! And who knows? If you go into PoE2 with an open mind, and really give it a chance, you just might discover that you can love it, too. I AM READY. Nov. 15th, here we come! Haven't seen enough to be able to tell one way or another, nobody really has. Whatever they present and/or make available to play is simply trivial content in the grand scheme of things. Show me a decently geared character with a functional build going through at least one end game map. Only then can you really start weighting things, this whole discussion is beyond pointless otherwise. |

will poe2 heavily rely on WASD or its just an option for people who want it? that would be a big deal breaker for me. |

" You'll have your choice of movement options (click-to-move, WASD, and controller), and GGG have said that all three should be viable. That said, it does look like including WASD has inspired a lot of changes to the game, so you'll probably want to at least give it a try before rejecting it out of hand. I get where you're coming from, though. I'm not a big lover of first-person perspective games, either, and I'm rubbish with WASD controls in general, but I'll be giving both WASD and controller a good try before testing click-to-move in PoE2, just to see which really feels better. Try poe2 for sure, one league. Stay with poe2? Probably not, not while poe is still around anyway. Second-class poe gamer |
